Sick Beats

Something about this song makes me think of Brooklyn, I really think it is just Hoodie Allen. I love him as a rapper but he looks like he is straight out of an American Apparel magazine. Good Jam nonetheless.

Mad props to thechuckness.com for finding this remix. The only part of the song that i do not care for is the fact that the guy comes over really weak and this girl singing is A)got a better voice in the song, B)comes off as the main part of the song and C) is running the GAME they are talking about. This is a girl I want to sleep with.

Arctic Monkeys throwback!

Lots of good stuff coming from RAC remixes. On one of my first posts they tore it up on the Mr. Little Jeans Track, and this one has a pretty sick feel to it. Due to it being winter, if I can snowboard to it, its solid.

This a slick tune-up of the electric Lindsay Quit Lollygagging, which was way too edgy to get picked up by mainstream though it was very good. Chiodos is a great band to get into if you are in one of those moods to get out of your normal expectations. Owens' voice melds the lyrics into a lulling harmony, waving between the spaces that make you want to be with spesh. Meaningful lyrics, few words. Nostalgia of more innocent times. P.S. Watch Chaos Theory if you want to replace two hours of your life with stupid.

I was watching a movie called "Chaos Theory" today and this gem came on. Something about this guys voice and what was happening in the movie at the time it came on has me playing it over and over. Enjoy. "I am making frames for the visions you see." The plot of the movie is a man who makes a living off of giving speeches on how to keep you life organized and planned when he gets the unlikely news that he has an extra X chromosome making him sterile since, which sucks because he has a daughter with his wife...

I don't think anyone will complain that I am bolstering this page up with a bunch of Brenton Duvall hits. This is a more toned down tune, and I refrain from using the term mashup. Mashups are basically just stacking songs one after another at a "sleek sounding" time. Duvall (Potomac Boys Club) finds unique ways to blend the elements of each song into an completely new sounds, tone, and entity. Headphones engaged.

I cannot get enough of Ellie Goulding. I have to admit that my posts have been a little overpopulated by males, and I generally swayed that way (music wise). Dont go call DADT on me! But, Ellie has let out a series of covers that are phenom including Sweet Diposition. Her voice is stunning, not to mention her beauty and she could literally be launched onto any track, rap, trance, or otherwise and make it magical. Here she takes Elton John "Your Song" needless to say, I have it on replay.

Recently 30 seconds to mars came out with an amazing video lasting over 13 minutes long staging their ability to rock out musically and also act. Jared Leto is an amazing actor if you recall from Lord of War with Nicolas Cage. Anyways, this song states that it is featuring Kanye, but really he just throws down a few bars at the end and throws some of his beats on the track mixed with the phrase "I need a hearbeat" over and over again. Sounds simple and lame as I am writing about it, though I have this on straight replay.

Beautiful sound, resounding voice, great supplemental by the band. Unfortunately the rest of their debut album sucks. Hopefully they can work with this bright spot and create something new.

- Artist of the week for me is Matt Kearney. I like is fusion style, it mixes an acoustic sound with some light rap flow. I dont even know if I could really call it rap, because it holds some folk roots as well. The first song doesn't stay as true to my analysis, but the girl is just killin' it on the drums. The second song is exactly what I am talking about. Don't give up on the song until you get about 45 seconds in, the beat and tone will change and I am confident you will enjoy. These songs are not new, but still not all that mainstream.

Drizzy

This song is an original heartbreaker. Comes up slowly and massages the inner mind. Moves easily throughout, then sends a chill up your spine. Wait for the full song to finish to get nirvana in waves.

This song played in the last episode of Californication. The much anticipated, well at least for me, season starts on January 9, 9PM EST>. At first listen this song seems really sad but in context with video it just is not to me. Perhaps my longing grasp to hold onto my hopeless romantic side but nonetheless a good tune, maybe find a girl and play it..or with a bottle of whiskey.

Okay, this kid straight kills it. Props to Thechuckness.com that went ahead and introduced this kid to me. He can be found all over youtube, but I think this might be he coolest jam where he throws down bruno mars's track much better than the less than average guitar player does and then for the verse throws in some sublime just to get it feeling right. The ease that he does this shit is what gets me.

Mike Posner amalgamates well with an up and comer Hoodie Allen. Hoodie's most popular song is probably: You Are Not A Robot feat. Marina, but is a little too poppy for me. This song def has some pop to it, considering Posner is there, but he does have a unique sounds and Hoodie Sets himself on point with Asher Roth, Sam Adams, and other suburban white rappers.

The producer of Passion Pit brings out a remix here that just reminds me of transcendentalism; a new approach to music using electronic sounds and a beautiful voice in the background, like a slow relaxing drug induced techno.

Here is a new jam from Potomac Boys clubs champion Brenton Duvall. His material cannot be listed as just a "mashup" there is a lot of intricate details that go into every bar that he puts together. From mean planes and Taylor gangs to this new songs incorporating british pop start Ellie Goulding, Duvall is lighting it up.

Athlete is a sort of underground band. The sad thing about this song is that I first heard it while catching up on a missed episode of Gossip Girl, man that's hard to admit. They are sort of emo but a lot of good points in their lyrics and simple sounds. Give it a whirl.
